Chris Orban passes away December 10, 2018, at age 56

The Grizzly family lost an enormous part of Olds Grizzlys history on Monday when Chris Orban succumbed to a brain tumour.  Chris was the first player to wear the “C” for the Olds Grizzlys.  He personified the dedication and perseverance that is an Olds Grizzly and he combined that with being an outstanding human being.

Chris (pictured in the middle) moved with the Taber Golden Suns when they relocated to Olds 37 years ago. Chris was an instant fan favorite due to his unrivalled tenacity.

When his son Brance, won Rookie of the Year in 2007, Chris donated the “Most Heart & Guts Trophy” to present to every future Rookie of the Year recipient. Chris and Brance’s names are the first two names on the trophy.  The physically massive trophy was created exclusively for Chris, by the Taber Golden Suns, to acknowledge the massive contribution he made for the team.

The Olds Grizzlys send their condolences to Chris's wife, Val, his children, Brance, Tayler, Chortney and his parents, Joe and Dorothy.
