The Olds Grizzlys have acquired 96 born forward Landon Welykholowa from the Brooks Bandits as part of the futures deal in the Marcinew trade.
Welykholowa played with the midget AAA Calgary Buffalo’s last season and had 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and 78 penalty minutes in 34 games last season. Welykholowa was selected 58th overall by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2011 WHL Bantam draft.
Grizzlys Head Coach Brett Hopfe is looking for Welykholowa to fill an important role, “Landon is a player who plays with a lot of grit and has skill to go along with it, the Olds Grizzlys style of game suits him perfectly. We need guys to step up into our top 6 forward ranks and Landon is a kid that we believe can to that for us. We were very excited to have had the opportunity to acquire him.”
