Grizzlys Aquire Piccolino

Grizzlys Trade Two For a 20 Year Old Goalie

Just five days into the new AJHL season the Olds Grizzlys have pulled off their first transaction of the 2014/15 season.  The Grizz have traded F/D Marc Eremenko and D Jordan Lajimodiere to the Dauphin Kings in exchange for G Jordan Piccolino.
Eremenko and Lajimodiere are both 20yr old players and Grizzlys director of hockey operations Brett Hopfe says that was a big reason why the trade was made.  “In the AJHL you can only have six 20yr old players on your roster. As a coaching staff we agreed that we would ideally like to be around five so we have more options going forward.”  Hopfe also commented on Eremenko and Lajimodiere’s time spent in Olds. “Both players are great kids and were significant contributors to our team with the different styles that they brought to our team.”
In return for Eremenko and Lajimodiere the Grizz received Piccolino. Piccolino is a 6’ tall 160lbs goalie from Montreal QC.  In 2012-2013 he won the CCHL Championship and was the playoff MVP. This past season he was part of the Western Canadian Cup where he was the tournaments top goaltender and was named to the WCC all-star team.  Piccolino was also the Canada East U19 goaltender this past year.  “Piccolino is a guy with valuable experience playing in both the Western Canada Cup and the Royal Bank Cup.  We believe that experience can help our players going into next season.”
