Grizzlys lose close one on the road

The Grizzlys gave the defending RBC Cup and back to back AJHL champs all they could handle on Saturday in Brooks. The Bandits captured the tight checking, low scoring game 1-0. Nick McCormack was the only player to solve Olds netminder Ethan Jemieff, as he scored the eventual winner just over 2 minutes into the first. Jemieff stopped 31 of 32 shots being named the Pro Hockey Life star of the game for the Grizz. Michael Frederick was star of the game for Brooks after a 29 save shutout. The Grizz were 0 for 7 on the powerplay, but also killed off 8 man advantage chances against.
Friday there was much more offence, with a fast paced, back and forth game at the Sports Complex in Olds. Eleven total goals were scored in an entertaining game that was tied 4 times, with the Grizzlys losing by one goal at home 6-5 to Whitecourt.  Kyle Star netted 3 scoring the first hat trick of the year for Olds. Spencer Dorowicz continued his strong early season play with a goal and 2 assists. Chris Gerrie had 3 assists. Jake Tamagi got his second start of the season in net. The Grizz outshot the Wolverines 31-29.
Captain Dorowicz is scorching the scoresheet, sitting 9th in AJHL scoring with 10 points through 7 games. New addition Kyle Star is 12th in the league with 8 points.
The next game is Tuesday in Canmore 7pm against the Eagles. The next home action for the Grizz is Tuesday October 8th with a 7:30 puck drop versus the Calgary Mustangs. Ticket information is easy to find by calling 403.556.1121 or www.oldsgrizzlys.ca
