Matt Marcinew Traded to Brooks

The Olds Grizzlys have traded Matt Marcinew to the Brooks Bandits in exchange for Tyson McCallum and Future Considerations.
Head Coach Brett Hopfe says Marcinew, who was the Grizzlys leading returning scorer, has committed to play in the USHL for the 2013-2014 season. “Marcinew talked to us for quite awhile about trying that league out.  He wanted an experience in the States and that is what he is going to get. So for us to be able to get this much for Marcinew’s rights is exciting for us.  There are no hard feelings between Marcinew and the organization, we are just happy to have been a stepping stone in his career.”
“We have acquired quite a bit from Brooks, how much is yet to be seen.  The future’s part of the trade is something we were very adamant on, and are very happy that it came into fruition. There will be additional players coming our way, depending on whether Matty comes back to play in our league, this will determine the amount of players coming back in return.” said Hopfe
The Grizzlys then traded McCallum to the Grande Prairie Storm for Future Considerations.
