This weeks Olds Grizzlys Player Spotlight goes to Hubert Larose! Hubert joins Olds all the way from LĂ©vis, Quebec, the farthest east of any Grizzlys player. So far in his rookie season, Hubert has had 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points in 24 games, including 3 assists this past weekend in a huge win vs. the Camrose Kodiaks. Huberts game is more than points, every game he’s a pesky two-way forward that forechecks and back checks hard waring down the opposing team. He’s not afraid to throw a hit, and is a high-energy impact forward that can play anywhere you put him. Off the ice, Hubert is a big part of the locker room, as a positive person bringing the mood up. You can often catch him playing sewer with longtime teammate Ryland Molde as a part of a pregame ritual.
Hubert came to the Grizzlys from the Camrose Kodiaks before the season opener when he was acquired via trade from the Camrose Kodiaks with teammate Ryland Molde. The pair played together for two seasons at Prairie Hockey Academy in the CSSHL in Saskatchewan. In his last season, Hubert put up 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points in 35 games for the U18 prep school, being an offensive force, where the year prior, he put up 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points in 29 games for the U17 Blue. Before coming out west, Larose played U15-U17 AAA back home in Quebec.
Catch Hubert and the rest of the boys in Black & Gold this Saturday at 6 PM for the Olds Grizzlys Teddy Bear Toss when the Lloydminster Bobcats are in town!
