This week’s Olds Grizzlys Player Spotlight goes to Sean Richards. The ’06 born forward hailing from Vancouver, BC, has joined us from the Port Alberni Bombers of the VIJHL where he was awarded the VIJHL Rookie of the Year award, Richards has quickly become a mainstay for the Grizzlys in his first AJHL season becoming an integral part of the teams offence and special teams systems as he most recently tied Braeden Veldhuizen for the team lead in points as Richards has collected 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points in 13 games.
Richards had 1 goal and 2 assists this past weekend while playing a vital role in the teams win against the #1 seed Whitecourt Wolverines. Richards had an assist on the opening goal which recieved an honourable mention for Play of the Week by the AJHL and capped his performance off by scoring the game winning goal in a 3-1 win against the Wolverines.
Richards looks to continue his play as an offensive catalyst for the boys in black & gold as the Calgary Canucks and the Camrose Kodiaks are visiting the Olds Sportslex for a full weekend at home against two south division competitors.
