Tyr Thompson Commits to University of Alabama Huntsville

The Olds Grizzlys are pleased to announce that 98 RW Tyr Thompson has committed to the University of Alabama Huntsville for the 2018-19 season.

“We are very excited for this opportunity that Tyr has been given,” stated Head Coach Dana Lattery.  “He came to our team at the start of last season, and worked his way up the lineup where he proved as a 17 year-old he could compete night in and night out with some of the best players in the league. His consistency was incredible and that earned him ice time. He took advantage of opportunity and made the best of his situation, finishing the season on a line with Wyatt Noskey and Chase Olsen. Even as young as Tyr is, he showed leadership in the locker room and the community, something it takes be an Olds Grizzly.”

“First I want to thank my family and friends for believing in me and helping me achieve my goal,” said Thompson. “Secondly, I want to my teammates and coaches in Olds, especially Coach Lattery, for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to move on into NCAA hockey. I am extremely humbled to accept this offer to play at for UAH in the NCAA, which has been a dream of mine and I am excited to see what the future holds for me in Huntsville.”
