This weeks Olds Grizzlys Player Spotlight goes to Sam Giangualano! The man of the hour, AJHL Player of the Week, the spotlight has been shining on Giangualano after his back-to-back hattrick performance this weekend leading to gaining 3 out of 4 possible points and a win against the Calgary Canucks. Sam Giangualano, or Sammy G as he’s called by the team, is a first year foward for the Grizz and has been one of the most valuable pieces to the team, with consistent performances of dominant offensive scoring power. The Calgary native joins us from the Merritt Centennials of the KIJHL where he was named KIJHL Rookie of the Year where he put up 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points in 41 games. Prior to that, he played in the Calgary Rockies system in the JPHL.
So far this season Sammy G has been leading the offence as he’s started this season with 10 goals and 9 assists in 18 games, tied for the team lead in points, and tied for 6th in goals across the whole AJHL. With his goal scoring ability, playmaking skill, fast footwork, and always finishing checks, Sams diversity in skill has been a huge asset for the Grizzlys as the teams identity is starting to form.
