Grizz Off To Slow Start Following Christmas Break

Santa did not provide the Olds Grizzlys with the gift they were looking for – a win to end the current losing skid.  Following the break, the Grizzlys lost three in a row, which has brought their current losing streak to 11 games.

Thursday seen Olds fall to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in their only visit to the Olds Sportsplex this season. The final score was 5-3.  Then on Friday, the Grizz were at home again and were trounced 6-1 by division rival Okotoks Oilers.  Saturday, the Grizzlys would try their luck on the road, but once again they would fall short in a critical matchup to the Canmore Eagles 3-1.

One bright spot following the weekend was that Olds sniper Matthew Marcinew extended his point streak to 20 games and is now tied for the team lead in points with Brandon Clowes with 44.  The Grizz now sit in a tie for 6th place in the South Division with Canmore, unfortunately the Eagles have 6 games in hand on the Black and Gold.

It does not get easier for the Grizzlys as they head to Brooks this Tuesday before heading home to face-off against the Calgary Mustangs on Friday and Drumheller Dragons on Saturday.
