Special Teams Plagues Grizzlys Against Dragons

The Olds Grizzlys fell to the Drumheller Dragons Tuesday night 5-3 in a game played at the Hanna arena.  Once again, special teams played a major factor in the outcome of the game as the Dragons scored three times on the powerplay, once shorthanded, and an empty net goal.  Drumheller came out of the gate flying outshooting the Grizzlys 21-3 in the first period.  Total shots were 38-29 in favor of the Dragons by the end of the game.  Drumheller finished 3 for 6 with the man advantage while Olds went 1 for 6.

Mitch Owsley scored the first Grizzlys goal half way through the second period to cut the Dragons lead in half 2-1.  The powerplay marker was assisted by Tanner Dunkle and Dylan Hubbs.  Drumheller followed with another goal to regain the two goal lead five minutes later.  Before the end of the second period, Spencer Dorowicz scored an unassisted marker to make it 3-2 going into the third period.

At the 13:29 mark, Drumheller notched a shorthanded goal to give them a 4-2 lead.  With a minute left in the game, Grizzlys leading scorer Brandon Clowes scored with the lone assist going to Jordan Lajimodiere.  With the goalie pulled, Drumheller sealed the game scoring an empty net goal to make it a 5-3 final.

Grizz goalie Ethan Jemieff was in net for the loss and forward Chase Paylor earned Player of the Game for Olds.  The Grizzlys continue on the road with a game against the Kodiaks in Camrose Friday night and then again in Calgary against the Mustangs Tuesday, November 6th.  The Grizzlys return to home ice on November 10th against the Whitecourt Wolverines.  It will be the only chance for Grizz fans to catch the newest AJHL team this season.  The Grizzlys follow up with a Remembrance Day matinee on Sunday at 2pm against the Fort. McMurray Oil Barons.
