The Olds Grizzlys are proud to announce that defensman Taylor Bilyk has committed to the MacEwan Griffins, and goaltender Ethan Jemieff has committed to the SAIT Trojans, both are in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
Bilyk will be joining the Griffins who Just came off a 14 win season and finished 5th place in the conference. Head coach Bram Stevens who is in his 3rd year with the team is excited to have Bilyk join the program and believes that Bilyk’s brand of hard nose hockey and compete level will bring lots to the organization.
Bilyk was a three year player for the Grizzlys and a captain in his final year. “Taylor is a tremendous kid who will compete everytime he steps onto the ice. We are going to miss his work ethic and his compete level on and off the ice,” stated Grizzlys Head Coach and GM Brett Hopfe.
Jemieff will be joining the SAIT Trojans who just came off a 26 win season and winning their 12th ACAC title. “We are very excited that Ethan has choosen SAIT. Ethan will be a key player on our team and should have a immediate positive impact on our roster. Grizzly players have always been a good fit for our team over the years,” stated Head coach Ken Babey who just finished his 28th season.
Jemieff was a two year player for the Grizzlys and was a steadfast goaltender both seasons winning playoff MVP in his first season with the Grizzlys. “Ethan came to us as a 19 year old goalie who was overlooked by many Junior teams. He came and not only proved to those teams that he could play but have tremendous success,” stated Hopfe.
Bilyk and Jemieff will be missed next season as the Grizzlys move forward. “Its bitter sweet to say goodbye to 20 year old players, however, knowing that these players have a chance to continue their playing career and receive an education is something that we are very proud of as coaches. We would like to wish nothing but the best to both players and I feel very confident that they will be impact player for each of their teams,” added Hopfe.
