The Olds Grizzlys earned 3 out of 4 points this weekend with two critical games at the sportsplex. The boys lost in overtime to the Canmore Eagles on Friday night 2 – 1, then turned around and defeated the Bonnyville Pontiacs 5 – 2 on Saturday.
Olds outshot Canmore 27 to 22 but came out on the losing end by giving up a late goal in the 3rd period and the winner in overtime. Jake Tamagi got the call in net and earned the star of the game stopping 20 of 22 shots. Dustin Gorgi scored the lone Grizz goal with 0:01 left in the 1st period.
Tamagi was between the pipes again on Saturday against Bonnyville and put up another solid performance turning aside 33 of 35 shots. The Grizz held a 2 – 1 lead going into the 3rd period where 2 powerplay goals by Nikolas Koberstein and Austin Kernahan sealed the victory. Spencer Dorowicz had another solid night with 3 points.
